Where Wildlife Meets the Tribes!

Venture deep into the soul of Northern Tanzania with Seneiya Expeditions on a safari that blends breathtaking wildlife with rich cultural encounters and ancient landscapes. This thoughtfully designed itinerary captures the essence of the region—from the legendary parks to the hidden corners where heritage and nature meet.

Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport, followed by an overnight in Arusha, the safari capital. Head into the baobab-studded wilderness of Tarangire National Park, home to vast elephant herds and dramatic scenery, then continue to the bird-rich waters of Lake Manyara, famous for its tree-climbing lions and diverse ecosystems.

In Lake Eyasi, step into a different rhythm of life as you meet the Hadzabe and Datoga communities—experiencing ancient ways of living that connect people to the land in extraordinary ways. Then, it’s on to the sweeping plains of the Serengeti, where game drives offer front-row seats to Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacle.

Travel through the historic Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites, before descending into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder teeming with life. Day 2 Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Savor an early breakfast before checking out of your lodge with packed lunch and proceed to Tarangire National Park one of the largest national parks in the Northern circuit of Tanzania.

This park is a breathtaking protected area that features massive herds of elephants, wide-open plains, and some impressive giant Baobab trees, making it a perfect spot to see more wildlife with fewer tourists around. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River that flows through it, serving as a vital source of fresh water for the wildlife in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the dry season.

Herds of elephant scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland, crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem. The one place in Tanzania where country antelope such as the stately fringe eared Oryx and peculiar long necked gerenuk are regularly observed. Location: 118 km (75 miles) southwest of Arusha and 2,600 km² (1,005 sq. miles) in size.

Enjoy an enroute game drive as you make your way to your lodge. Finally, conclude your day with a delightful dinner and a restful overnight.

Day 3 L. Tarangire National Park - Lake Manyara National Park

Wake up and enjoy a delicious breakfast while looking out over the plains dotted with hundreds of Africa’s prehistoric ‘Trees of Life’ – the baobab, then prepare to discover the cultural and natural wonders of Tanzania. Take a picturesque drive to Mto Wa Mbu, a cultural hub that provides an intriguing glimpse into Tanzania's rich heritage. Nestled between Manyara and Ngorongoro, this distinctive region draws individuals from all 120 tribes, forming a lively cultural mosaic. Enjoy local Tanzanian cuisine at one of the eateries in Mto wa Mbu.

Continue your journey to Lake Manyara National Park - one of Tanzania’s smaller wilderness enclaves, a thin green band of forest flanked on one side by sheer cliffs and on the other by white-hot shores of an ancient soda lake. Feeding on undergrowth or dozing in dry riverbeds are the country’s densest populations of buffalo and elephant. Hippo’s wallow along the lake’s borders and a dazzling variety of birds fly overhead. Although Lake Manyara National Park lions are fond of trees (perhaps envious of their close competitor - leopards!), this is pretty rare, and it is not often spotted on every safari.

This park provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Depending on season, you might see thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large water birds such as pelicans, cormorants, and storks.

Enjoy scenic drive as you make your way to your lodge in Karatu. Finally, conclude your day with a delightful dinner and a restful overnight.

These bushmen still live as they did thousands of years ago, making it feel like time has stood still in this area.

Join an adventure with these skilled hunters and gatherers, where you'll learn how they gather local fruits and honey. After spending time with the Hadzabe, you'll meet the Datoga people, known for their amazing blacksmithing skills. All these tribes inhabit the region around Lake Eyasi.

Lake Eyasi is a fantastic place to explore on foot, with breathtaking views along the way. While game viewing isn't super common here, you'll find plenty of birds, especially waders and flamingos, along the shores.

After the exhilarating day, drive back to your lodge for dinner and comfortable overnight.

Arise with the sun and have breakfast, ready for an exciting day ahead. After breakfast, check out with packed lunch and embark on a full-day game drive in this remarkable Serengeti National Park renowned as one of Tanzania’s premier wildlife destinations.

Serengeti National Park spans nearly 15,000 km² and is recognized as a World Heritage Site filled with wildlife throughout the year. You can see millions of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and elands as they embark on a massive journey in search of water and grass. This great migration follows a seasonal rhythm influenced by rainfall and the nutrients in the grass. Even when the migration slows down, the Serengeti still provides some of the most exciting game viewing experiences in Africa.

The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-manned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt in the acacia trees lining the river banks, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the south-eastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African jackal species occur here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat.

As the evening unfolds, you will have the opportunity to exit the vehicle and immerse yourself in the wilderness, reminiscing about the day's adventures with your cherished companions over a sundowner. Seek out an idyllic vantage point to witness the sun gracefully descend beyond the horizon, drink in hand, chilled to perfection.
